HID Multicat – A Reliable Dredging Support Vessel for Efficient Dredging Operations
A Multicat plays a crucial supporting role in modern dredging operations, especially for cutter suction dredgers without their own propulsion system. Designed as a highly versatile Dredging Support Vessel, the HID Multicat provides essential assistance including towing, anchoring, positioning, fuel supply, personnel transfer, and floating pipeline installation, helping maintain smooth and continuous operations on site.
For the Global project, the HID Multicat was customized as a reliable Multipurpose Workboat capable of performing a wide range of offshore support tasks. With its strong towing capability and excellent maneuverability, this Dredging Support Vessel can efficiently support cutter suction dredgers throughout different stages of the dredging process.
The customized Multicat measures 16.5 m in length, 5.5 m in width, and 2.4 m in depth, with a sailing speed of 8–9 knots. Its twin-propeller propulsion system provides excellent maneuverability, allowing the Service Boat to operate effectively in confined waterways and demanding marine environments. As a Self Sailing Vessel, it can navigate independently between the dredger, work area, and support locations, improving the flexibility of daily project operations.
Built with CCS-certified marine steel and advanced robotic welding technology, this Multipurpose Workboat offers excellent structural stability and long-term durability for demanding offshore environments. The robust hull structure enables the Dredging Support Vessel to withstand continuous towing, anchoring, material transportation, and other heavy-duty operations.
Equipped with a 20-ton folding arm crane, the HID Service Boat can also undertake efficient lifting and material-handling tasks. The crane allows the Multicat to handle equipment, pipes, tools, and other materials required during dredging operations, reducing the need for additional lifting equipment on site.
